Celtic ended 2021 in the best possible fashion by announcing a triple transfer move, bringing in Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi. All three are exciting arrivals and players that Ange Postecoglou will know very well from his time in the J1 League. And after the success that Kyogo Furuhashi had enjoyed at Parkhead since arriving in the summer, it is safe to say that the fans will have very high expectations.

Squad depth has been Celtic’s biggest issue this time around and it has been left further exposed by one injury after another.

The arrivals of Maeda, Hatate and Ideguchi should go a long way in solving this problem. But could Celtic end up making more additions to their squad even after the triple deal?

A rumour has recently emerged on social media that they could be looking at two more arrivals in January. On the other hand, as reported by the Daily Record, a move for another wide player and another possible defender have not been ruled out.

Could Celtic make more additions in January?

It must be said that Celtic fans must already be delighted with the signings that the club have made and we are not even in January yet.

But one also has to point out that there are still areas where the club need to strengthen further. Centre-back is one such area. Left-back is another. And the club could certainly do with another winger, with James Forrest struggling with both injuries and form.

It remains to be seen if they end up making more signings or not. One thing is for sure though, the Hoops have already shown that they are serious about making a title challenge this time around, after finishing 25 points behind the Rangers in the previous campaign. Let’s see if they can overturn their 6-point deficit in the second half of the campaign.
