Celtic have certainly had an interesting season till now to say the least, winning the Scottish League Cup but find themselves chasing in the Premiership at the same time. When it comes to picking the manager of the season, you would expect a former Rangers captain to look towards Ibrox for his selection instead of Parkhead. Interestingly though, that was not the case for Craig Moore.

Of course, with Steven Gerrard walking out of Ibrox in the middle of the campaign, the Liverpool legend would have been a controversial choice in the eyes of many. And Giovanni van Bronckhorst may be off to a good start, but he has only been in the managerial hot seat for a little over a month.

Even then, Moore’s choice would have come as a surprise to many fans, both of Celtic and the Rangers.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, when asked if Ange Postecoglou was the manager of the year so far, Moore told the Go Radio Football Show:

"“I believe it has been.“You touch on what he came into, it was a club that didn’t really seem to know what direction it was going in, other than trying to deliver a squad that can compete.“It seemed all over the place, it seemed there were some players there who weren’t happy so there was some movement to happen.“It was a really tough situation to come into but Ange has come in and done a fantastic job.“He’s changed the style of play, the players have adapted to that and it’s taken some time.“More importantly he’s lifted a trophy already, the first bit of silverware that was available.“So at the halfway mark, definitely he’s manager of the season.”"

Former Rangers captain picks Celtic manager

It’s well known that Celtic were in a bit of a mess when Postecoglou took over as manager and Moore has acknowledged the difference that he has made at Parkhead since arriving.

Postecoglou also has the first trophy of the season under his belt and interestingly, the Celtic manager thus already has won one Cup more than Gerrard over his time at Ibrox.

Of course, the Australian connection between Moore and Postecoglou may also have played a part in the former Rangers captain’s selection.

Postecoglou has impressed many so far and won over the Celtic fans much sooner than expected. It is clear that he is getting a lot right. And it will be interesting to see how far this team can go as they add more depth to the squad in the January transfer window.
