Celtic’s biggest problem in this campaign has been injuries. They did not have a lot of squad depth to begin with and it has been left exposed even more, with several players out of action at one point or another. Considering the circumstances, Ange Postecoglou’s side have done a tremendous job, winning the Scottish League Cup and keeping the gap between them and the Rangers down to just six points.

While it is a significant point difference, it can be overturned with almost half the season still left to be played. Celtic have very little room left for error though and will need to go on a good run in the second half of the campaign.

Of course, the January transfer window gives them a chance to add to their squad. But it will also be important for players to recover during the winter break.

And Postecoglou has delivered some positive news that Celtic fans have been waiting for for a long time. As reported by the Daily Record, when speaking about players who could be back, the manager said:

"“Some of them. Giorgos Giakoumakis, Jullien, Hopefully Jota.“There are a whole host I could go through.“But I’m pretty hopeful that the majority, by the time the resumption comes, will be there or thereabouts, which will be great for us. James Forrest is one of those as well.”"

It is safe to say that this is brilliant news for Celtic. They have some very important players out of action right now and will be hoping to have back as soon as possible.

Jota was injured in the first game of December and has been out of action since. On the other hand, Christopher Jullien has not played a single game for the club in 2021 due to a long-term injury. Even Kyogo is out of action right now, having been forced off the pitch against St Johnstone.

Thus, things are looking up for Celtic on the injury front at the moment. With players returning and some new signings, hopefully they will be able to make a big run in the second half of the season and catch up with the Rangers.
