With the winter break starting, Celtic’s focus will now turn towards the January transfer window. It is expected to be one of the most exciting in the history of the club, with it having become clear in the first half of the season that the Hoops need to add to Ange Postecoglou’s squad if they are to challenge the Rangers for the Scottish Premiership title. Thus, it is going to be a very important month for the club.

They have already been linked with some very interesting names like Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi. And all of them could prove to be solid additions for the Hoops.

Maeda finished as the top scorer in the J1 League in the 2021 season. On the other hand, Hatate was an absolute standout as well. And while Ideguchi has endured a tough time in recent years, not too long ago, he was considered as the next big thing in Japanese football. It remains to be seen if Celtic can bring all three to Parkhead in January.

Amidst all this, Postecoglou has given an update on the entire situation and had some praise for Michael Nicholson as well. As reported by the Daily Record, the Celtic manager said:

"“We’ve been working really hard on this window for quite a while.“We knew it would be a crucial one and it is not an easy one, to be fair, the January window.“It’s not one where you really want to do too much because there is sometimes a desperation around it in terms of the business.“So we set our task early on that, irrespective of how the first half of the year went, we knew what targets we wanted. We knew what kind of players.“And he [Nicholson] has been the driving force behind it.“Because as you can appreciate, with the games we have had, I had to focus on making sure that we were competitive on the field.“He’s taken the lead on that and he’s working awfully hard in the background to make sure we get what we need done.”"

Thus, it looks like Celtic have had their eyes set on their January transfer aims for a while now and as a result, must be ready for what is to come already.

That could help them in getting signings done early and that would be a major boost for the club, as it would allow the new players to come in and adjust to their new surroundings during the winter break.

Now, it remains to be seen what kind of moves Celtic pull off this January and hopefully, they will help to take the club forward.
