For years, Karamoko Dembele has been one of the most highly-rated youngsters at Celtic. He has never been able to break into the first-team picture on a consistent basis at Parkhead though, despite his unquestionable potential. But then, that should not be a massive surprise considering the fact that he is still just 18 years of age and has plenty of time on his side. The youngster was handed a huge blow in this campaign though.

It had started to look like things were changing for Dembele, as he had scored his first goal for Celtic towards the end of last season and then was featuring for the team in pre-season under the management of Ange Postecoglou.

Things would take a turn for the worse quickly though, as he fractured his ankle in pre-season against Bristol City and ultimately had to undergo surgery. Dembele has been out of action since.

There is finally some positive news about the youngster though. As reported by Football Scotland, Dembele will rejoin his teammates on the Lennoxtown pitch next week, which is roughly two weeks ahead of schedule.

Celtic handed surprising Dembele injury boost

It is safe to say that this is very positive news for Celtic, who have struggled with injuries and lack of options throughout the course of the season.

While it is expected to take Dembele some more time to be fit enough to feature in competitive games, overall, this is a boost for Celtic.

Dembele could prove to be a solid option for Postecoglou on the right wing, especially with the number of injury problems that James Forrest has suffered in recent times.

The bigger question surrounding Dembele right now is regarding his long-term future at Parkhead. His current deal with Celtic is believed to run out next summer and it remains to be seen if he ends up staying beyond this season.
