Considering their lack of squad depth and the number of injuries that they have endured recently, Celtic have enjoyed an excellent first half to their 2021/22 campaign. Ange Postecoglou has already guided the Hoops to their first piece of silverware of the season, winning the Scottish League Cup earlier this month. And in the Premiership table, they sit six points behind the Rangers.

Now, that is a significant gap to say the least. But it is nothing that cannot be overturned, especially considering the fact that there are still three Glasgow Derbies left to be played this season.

Quite a few players have impressed for Celtic this season since arriving in the summer. Cameron Carter-Vickers is one of them.

He joined the club on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur in the final hour of the summer transfer window and has established himself in the heart of the Hoops’ defence since then. And as Ekrem Konur tweeted out, Celtic have begun talks with the Premier League club regarding a permanent transfer of Carter-Vickers.

Carter-Vickers has been excellent ever since joining the club. And signing him on a permanent basis would be considered as a major coup for the Hoops.

The United States international has been with Tottenham Hotspur for a long-time but has never managed to find a regular spot for himself in their team. As a result, his senior career has seen him go on one loan after another.

It remains to be seen if Celtic are able to sign him on a permanent basis. It could make sense for all parties involved though. Many might argue that he is the best defender at Parkhead right now.

Celtic do have an option to buy included in the loan deal although it is unclear how much that is.
