Celtic handed huge blow by David Turnbull injury timeline

Injuries have proven to be Celtic’s Achilles’ heel in recent times. In fact, rarely has there been a game in recent memory for the Hoops, when a player has not been forced off the pitch. David Turnbull was one of them, when he had to be substituted off in the Scottish League Cup final against Hibernian with a hamstring issue. And now, it looks like the Scottish international could be out for a while.

Many questions have been raised about Turnbull’s form through the course of the season but there is no denying the fact that he has been a player that Celtic have relied on heavily and his output has been impressive as well.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Turnbull has scored 9 goals and provided 7 assists in 34 appearances, while featuring for 2840 minutes of football already this season.

He is not expected to be back on the pitch in the near future though. As reported by The Scotsman, Turnbull looks set to be sidelined for at least the next two months as a result of his injury.

It is safe to say that the situation is far from ideal for Celtic. They do not have a lot of depth right now, especially in midfield.

That could possibly change in January though, with the club being linked with Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi, players who can both play in the middle of the park. It will be interesting to see if the Hoops can sign both the Japanese stars, although deals are rumoured to be close.

Yet, there is no doubt that Turnbull remains a very important part of this Celtic team. Thus, we can only hope that he is back on the pitch as soon as possible. We wish him the best in his recovery.
