Celtic fans must had their heads in their hands when Kyogo Furuhashi was forced off the pitch once again, this time against St Johnstone. The Japanese star has arguably been the Hoops’ best player this season but recently, he has had his fair share of injury problems. He had returned in the Scottish League Cup final against Hibernian and scored a wonderful match-winning brace, but it was clear that he was not 100 per cent.

Thus, it was not a huge surprise to see him out of the team once again in midweek, against St Mirren. But Celtic dropped a couple of points in that game, and as a result, they needed a win against St Johnstone, if they were to keep the Rangers in their sights in the Premiership title race.

Thus, Kyogo was back in the starting XI but pretty soon, it became clear that it was too early for him, as he had to be substituted off after just 15 minutes.

Thankfully for Celtic though, it appears that it was not a serious problem. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Ange Postecoglou told BBC Radio Scotland:

"“Listen, we knew he wasn’t 100%. He wanted to give it a go today. We said to him don’t overly risk it, so it’s nothing major, nothing that’s going to keep him out anyway.”"

Celtic have received a massive Kyogo injury boost

It is safe to say that this is a massive boost for Celtic. Kyogo has been the talisman for the club this season and any long-term injury to him would have been a major worry for the Hoops.

But with the three-week winter break starting and the injury not looking like a major one, he might have enough time to rest and recover.

Celtic have several other injury problems right now as well though and they will be hoping to have the majority of the players back available when they take on Hibernian next, on January 17, in the first game back after the winter break. Let’s see what the future holds.
