Ange Postecoglou does not clear up Celtic mystery

Celtic have had their fair share of problems since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as the club’s manager. The squad depth was not great to begin with and there have been several injury problems on top of that as well. And in the game against St Johnstone, several more players were missing rather unexpectedly, with the likes of Joe Hart, Scott Bain, Callum McGregor, Anthony Ralston, Greg Taylor and a few others not in the matchday squad.

All things considered, Celtic managed to do quite well in this game, coming out with a 3-1 away win against St Johnstone. Thus, they will head into the winter break on a positive note.

It is still unclear though why so many players were missing for Celtic on this occasion. There have been rumours of a Covid breakout in their camp but that has not been confirmed by the club and is speculation at this point.

Speaking after the match, Postecoglou did not clear up the mystery either. As reported by the Daily Record, the Celtic manager said:

"“The last couple of days have been pretty chaotic as you would imagine with everything that was happening, but we stayed calm through the whole thing and we knew that this was just a different challenge from the other challenges we have had so far and we just had to get on with it.“To be fair, it’s been challenging from the moment I set foot here, it has just been different challenges.“That’s what I keep saying to the players, all along we haven’t made excuses or felt sorry for ourselves, we have just got on with the job.”"

Celtic head into the winter break on a high note

It is safe to say that Celtic will be heading into the winter break on a high note after getting a win against St Johnstone in what was a big challenge for the Hoops to say the least.

Now, there is scheduled to be a three week break and they will next play on January 17 against Hibernian.

By that point of time, Celtic will definitely be hoping to have the majority of the players who have been missing in recent games, back available. The break does give them quite some time to rest and recover.

In that regard, this break has come at a very good point of time for Celtic although the situation is far from ideal.
