Celtic’s last game against Hibernian was a memorable one for the Hoops. A brace from Kyogo Furuhashi in the final guided them to a 2-1 victory and the Scottish League Cup. It also brought an end to their short trophy drought, having not won one last season. At the same time, it was Ange Postecoglou’s first title as a manager since arriving at Parkhead. Thus, it was a great night for the club to say the least.

There is a lot left to play for this season though and not much time for Celtic to reflect and celebrate. They were handed a blow immediately after their cup triumph, as they could only manage a 0-0 draw away at St Mirren. And they will definitely be hoping for a better result on Boxing Day against St Johnstone.

We will be heading into the winter break after that game. Upon returning, Celtic are scheduled to face Hibernian at Parkhead on January 17.

The opposition side have been handed a double blow though, with two of their players facing Scottish FA charges.

As reported by BBC, Ryan Porteous has been charged by the Scottish FA following his clash with Aberdeen’s Christian Ramirez. He faces a hearing on December 30. On the other hand, Paul McGinn is set for a disciplinary hearing next month after his comments about John Beaton following the League Cup final.

It will be interesting to see what happens regarding the two charges. The Hoops must concentrate on themselves though.

Celtic have very little room for error left after their recent draw against St Mirren left them 6 points behind the Rangers in the league table. And after how tight things have looked recently, that is a significant gap to say the least and not where they would want to be.
