For a team that has played some splendid attacking football at times since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager, Celtic have struggled quite a bit in recent times when it comes to finding the back of the net. In fact, over their previous four games in all competitions, the Hoops have only managed to score five times. Of course, it is a direct result of the number of injuries that the team have at the moment.

Celtic’s squad depth was not the best to begin with and they have suffered several injury problems this month, especially going forward. On the wings, players like Jota, James Forrest, Mikey Johnston and Karamoko Dembele have all had their problems.

While on the other hand, at striker, Kyogo Furuhashi, Giorgos Giakoumakis and Albian Ajeti are all out of action right now as well. Thus, the situation is far from ideal and the Hoops are struggling for a source of goals.

One player who they have been linked with in the past and who could be a solid addition to Postecoglou’s squad is Hibernian star Martin Boyle.

Celtic can pull off transfer masterstroke by signing Boyle

As reported by the Daily Record, Hibernian have recently rejected a £500,000 plus transfer bid for Boyle from Saudi Arabian side Al-Faisaly.

It is not hard to see why there is interest in his signature. He has been excellent in recent times. According to stats from Transfermarkt, Boyle has scored 14 goals and provided 3 assists in 26 appearances this season. And one also has to remember that Hibernian have been nowhere near the top of their game.

Celtic were linked with a move for him in the past and it does feel like they missed a trick by not making it happen. At 28 years of age, he is in his prime as a footballer, is capable of playing up front or on the right wing, and if the Hoops were able to sign him, it could be a transfer masterstroke on their part.
