Tony Watt is someone who will always be associated with Celtic although his time at Parkhead was short and did not bring a lot of success. He did score the second goal in the Hoops’ historic win over Barcelona, when the La Liga giants were at the top of their game and arguably the greatest club side ever assembled. Since then though, the Scottish player has enjoyed an interesting career to say the least.

His run at Celtic was not long and he has had stints in Belgium, England and Bulgaria since departing the Glasgow giants.

Watt has been back in the Scottish Premiership for a while though and is currently at Motherwell, where it has finally all come together for him this season. At the moment, he is leading the league scoring charts.

But surprisingly, it looks like he could be on his way out of the club soon. As reported by the Daily Record, Watt had already knocked back a new contract at Motherwell and indicated that he would be moving on as a free agent. And now, it looks like Dundee United are set to agree a deal with him, that will see him join them next summer.

The former Celtic star looks set to swap Motherwell for Dundee United

Still only 27 years of age, it is safe to say that Watt still has time on his side to establish himself as a star in the Scottish Premiership. And his performances this season have gone a long way in that regard.

While he might not have made his mark in the Celtic first-team, he has found his best form with Motherwell this season.

Thus, if he does end up leaving the club next summer for Dundee United, one might question the timing of the move. Let’s see what the future holds for the former Celtic star.
