Celtic have received surprising Joe Hart injury blow

Celtic pulled off a transfer masterstroke when they signed Joe Hart from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer. Many had questioned whether the move would work, with the Englishman not being a regular starter of a club for years at that point of time. It is safe to say that he has arrived at Parkhead and quickly established himself as their first-choice between the posts as well as a vocal leader of the team.

Hart added to his medals tally last Sunday by lifting the Scottish League Cup but it was a big surprise when he was not the man in goal against St Mirren, with Scott Bain starting.

Most thought that it was squad rotation on the part of Ange Postecoglou. But now, it appears that Hart was not available for the game through injury.

As reported by the Glasgow Times, when asked about Hart being injured, the Celtic manager said:

"“All of them were unavailable, none of them were rested.“I don’t know where that came out.“I don’t rest players, if they want a rest they can have a rest when they’re 45. Everyone who wasn’t playing tonight was unavailable.“Either suspended or injured so that’s the case.”"

The nature of Hart’s injury is unclear at this point of time but it goes without saying that if he is out for any considerable length of time, it will be a huge problem for Celtic.

Hart has been the regular starter for Celtic from the moment he arrived. He has produced some brilliant performances for the club already, including in the League Cup final, and it is safe to say that they will feel his absence.

Bain is the man expected to fill in for Hart. And while he has played a lot of games for Celtic over the years, he has never been able to nail down his spot in the first-team.

One can only hope that Hart returns from his injury as soon as possible. Celtic already have a large number of first-team players out and they don’t need to add another name to that list anytime soon.
