Ange Postecoglou confirms Celtic’s Glasgow Derby problem

Celtic might have won the Scottish League Cup just recently but they find themselves in a difficult position in the Premiership after they could only manage a 0-0 draw against St Mirren, despite the opposition not having a long list of players available. It was a game that the Hoops were expected to win but they did not and now, they find themselves six points behind the Rangers in the league table.

That is not an ideal position to be in to say the least, with half the season gone. And as a result, it will be very vital for Celtic to win the remaining Glasgow Derbies.

Not too long ago, the Rangers were struggling but since the arrival of Giovanni van Bronckhorst, they have found their form. On the other hand, Celtic have been struggling with multiple injury problems. The results have been positive but the performances have dipped.

The SPFL have decided to bring the winter break forward amid new crowd restrictions. That though means that the Glasgow Derby, which was originally scheduled for January 2, will now be played on February 2. That could be a worry for Celtic though, as both Kyogo and Tom Rogic could be out on international duty at that point. And when asked about the matter, as reported by the Daily Record, Postecoglou confirmed:

"“If they get called up they will be.”"

Kyogo and Rogic have been two of Celtic’s most important players this season. Thus, them missing the Glasgow Derby would be a huge blow.

But then, there are positives for Celtic when it comes to the Glasgow Derby being postponed as well. The two biggest of them are the fact that it gives time to their injured stars to regain their fitness and it also gives the club the chance to make more additions in the January transfer window.

Of course, there is confusion regarding that matter as well. What impact will the new restrictions around the world have when it comes to making signings next month?
