Just days after winning the Scottish League Cup, Celtic produced arguably the most uninspiring performance of the season, as they could manage only a 0-0 draw away at St Mirren. And as a result, they now sit 6 points behind the Rangers in the Scottish Premiership. Considering how tight things have looked recently, that is a substantial gap and this result could prove costly come the end of the campaign.

Coming into the game, St Mirren had barely enough players available to field a team and as a result, they will be delighted with the result and they have every right to be.

On the other hand, this was a massive blow for Celtic. They had done tremendously well to win all of their games in December before dropping two points in what was arguably the easiest one.

That is football. It is now about getting up from this blow and moving forward. It must be said though that there is now very little margin for error left for the Hoops.

Abada’s form a huge worry

Abada had looked like an absolute transfer masterstroke at the start of the season and was the club’s standout player in the early parts of the campaign.

Since then though, his form has gone south and for several months, he has struggled. Yes, he has scored and assisted here and there, but he is not looking like half the player we saw earlier in the season.

There is no doubt that he is a top player on the top of his game. We have already seen that. But it is now about getting the best back out of him. On current form, he most probably would have been dropped if Celtic had options.
