Celtic have had their fair share of injury problems for a long time now, to the point that Ange Postecoglou has been left scrambling for options in recent weeks and even played Josip Juranovic, Anthony Ralston, Liam Scales and Adam Montgomery in the same starting XI against Ross County, despite all four of them primarily playing as full-backs this season. Thus, it is safe to say that the returns of the injured players cannot come soon enough.

Three very important players who are struggling with their fitness right now are Kyogo Furuhashi, David Turnbull and James Forrest.

The first two have been huge parts of Postecoglou’s team this season. And the third has not been, as a direct result of his series of injuries which have resulted in him being in and out of the playing XI.

Celtic’s next game, fresh off of winning the League Cup, is scheduled to be against St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership.

Coming into the Scottish League Cup final, the biggest topic of discussion was the fitness of Kyogo and he showed exactly why in the game.

Kyogo was named in the starting XI by Postecoglou, perhaps surprisingly, and he ended up scoring a match winning brace against Hibernian in Celtic’s 2-1 victory to lift the first trophy of the campaign.

Since then though, it has emerged that he was not 100 per cent for the game. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Postecoglou said while speaking on Celtic’s official YouTube channel:

"“Kyogo, we’ll have to manage through this period because he’s not 100%. It’s unlikely he’ll play every game between now and the break.”"

Thus, one should expect Kyogo to not be in the starting XI against St Mirren as it is important to use him sporadically. Otherwise, there is the risk of him getting injured again.
