Celtic are expected to make a splash in the upcoming January transfer window and have been linked with Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi recently, as they look to strengthen Ange Postecoglou’s squad with players from the J1 League. But considering the lack of depth that the Hoops have all over the pitch, just three signings is not expected to be enough to solve all their problems and they will need to make more next summer.

One area that Celtic definitely need to strengthen in is their wings. Jota has been a standout this season but he is only on loan at the moment and it remains to be seen if the club can sign him from Benfica on a permanent basis.

Liel Abada has a lot of room for improvement but it is safe to say that he has a lot of potential as well. On the other hand, both Mikey Johnston and James Forrest have struggled with injuries for over a year, and have been in and out of the team. And Karamoko Dembele has been out of action since pre-season.

As reported by The Telegraph (via 67 Hail Hail), Celtic are interested in signing AZ Alkmaar’s Albert Gudmundsson. The Iceland international is out of contract at the end of the season and the Hoops are keen on signing him on a free transfer.

Celtic want to sign Gudmundsson on a free transfer next summer

Gudmundsson mostly plays on the right wing for AZ Alkmaar and he has had a decent time playing for the Dutch side till now.

The 24-year-old has shown the ability to both score and assist consistently and could be a solid addition to Postecoglou’s squad.

Celtic came up against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League play-off this season and thus, they have already gotten a first-hand look at the player.
