Ange Postecoglou has not taken too long to become a fan favourite at Celtic since arriving in the summer. It is easy to forget though that not too long ago, many were questioning whether he would be shown the exit door after just a few months in the Parkhead hot seat. The start had not been great for the Hoops, as they struggled to deliver the results early on in this campaign.

It is safe to say that they have turned things around quite impressively since then. And the Scottish League Cup win is proof of that.

The fact that Celtic had to come from a goal down to beat Hibernian just shows how far they have come as a team since that disappointing run of results at the start to the season.

Postecoglou though is someone who has never had a lack of belief in himself and always stuck to his methods, even when results were not going the team’s way and the media as well as many fans were writing him off. And he gave an incredible reply to the doubters after winning his first piece of silverware with Celtic. As reported by The Scotsman, the manager said:

"“Without sounding arrogant, I have never doubted myself or wavered in my own belief. I understood when I took this role what people thought. All of you were probably running a book on how long I’d last. A few of you probably had December, but that’s now gone.”"

When Celtic had first brought in Postecoglou in the summer, it is safe to say that quite a few fans were probably disappointed with the appointment, after being linked with Eddie Howe for months.

Postecoglou had enjoyed considerable success in both Japan and Australia, but he was a bit off an unknown when it came to European club football.

It is safe to say that things have gone Celtic’s way since then and it has proven to be an inspired decision to bring in Postecoglou to guide the club back to the top. And it is very exciting to think about what is to come in the future, when the Hoops have a deeper squad and more experience of playing this style of football.
