Shay Given makes behind the scenes claim about Celtic star

Celtic made several signings in the recent summer transfer window. In total, they brought in twelve players, with ten arriving on a permanent basis and two on loan, Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers, with an option to buy included in both deals. And it is safe to say that overall, the club must be happy with their moves, as quite a few of them have gone on to become regulars in the starting XI.

One signing which had raised a lot of eyebrows at the time was that of Joe Hart. The English goalkeeper had not been a regular starter for a club for years and it seemed like a huge risk, with the likes of Vasilis Barkas, Scott Bain and Conor Hazard struggling to nail down their spot in the team as well.

It is safe to say that the move has worked out though and Hart has established himself as the man between the posts for Celtic.

And it is not just his performances for Celtic that have caught the eye but his leadership as well. One of his former Manchester City teammates, Shay Given, has lifted the lid on what he has heard about Hart behind the scenes. As reported by The Scottish Sun, he said:

"“I hear he’s brilliant in the Celtic squad, a big leader.“He got respect from the players from day one, I’m sure. His career speaks for itself.“Hart’s got standards in training and the rest of the Celtic players will have noticed that immediately.“You can only be influenced by that if you’re working with him.“So with all of that and his performances, Celtic really have a top player, and as a fan I’m thrilled about that.”"

Hart has been nothing short of brilliant ever since arriving at Celtic. There were many doubts about him a few months back but there are not many now. He has firmly positioned himself as the first-choice goalkeeper at Parkhead.

And his leadership qualities must be a massive boost for the club as well, and something that they needed, following Scott Brown’s departure in the summer.

Hart will have the chance to add to his medals tally this Sunday when Celtic take on Hibernian in the Scottish League Cup final and it is safe to say that he could have a big role to play.
