The injury status of Kyogo Furuhashi for Celtic’s League Cup final still remains a mystery. Like he is known to do, Ange Postecoglou has kept his cards close to his chest and the fans will know who’s playing and who’s not when the starting XI is announced at Hampden Park. It is safe to say though that if the Japanese star returned for the big game, even if he was on the bench, it would be a major boost for the Hoops.

The injury that Kyogo picked up was unfortunate. It had looked like he was going to get some well-earned rest against Real Betis with nothing riding on the result of the game, as he was named on the bench. But when Albian Ajeti got injured in the first half itself, Postecoglou decided to bring the Japanese star on.

In hindsight, it was a massive mistake from the manager. Kyogo was injured in the second half and has been out of action since then.

Postecoglou had revealed before the club’s last training session, what Kyogo had to do to be in consideration for the League Cup final on Sunday. As reported by The National, he said:

"“From my perspective, if anyone is going to be available they will have to train tomorrow, so the medical team will give me a briefing in the morning and we’ll go from there.”"

The final training session before the League Cup final is already in the books and thus, Celtic must have already made their decision regarding Kyogo’s status for the big game.

A lot of fans must have been keeping a close eye on training videos from this week to see if Kyogo was present.

But to be honest, it is very easy to not include footage of him in videos which are just a few minutes long at best if the club wanted to keep it a secret before the final.

As we have seen in the past, Postecoglou does have a penchant for springing a selection surprise or two at times. Let’s see if he has one up his sleeve on Sunday.
