Celtic will have the chance to end their one season long trophy drought when they take on Hibernian in the Scottish League Cup final this Sunday. It will also be Ange Postecoglou’s opportunity to win his first piece of silverware for the club since arriving in the summer. But going into the big game, it is safe to say that the Hoops have their fair share of worries when it comes to injuries.

Lack of squad depth has always been their Achilles’ heel this season. It has led to many of their stars having to play continuous football and that has made injuries more likely.

At this point of time, Kyogo, Jota, James Forrest and several others are out on the sidelines. And the situation is not ideal for Postecoglou’s side by any stretch of the imagination.

There have been some rumours that Kyogo could be back in time for Celtic’s League Cup final but at the moment, it looks like it is a day-to-day thing. As reported by the Daily Record, Postecoglou said:

"“In terms of guys in rehab, all progressing. Obviously we still have another day tomorrow but can’t really make a call on any of them being available or unavailable at this stage.“As I said earlier in the week, it is a day-to-day proposition as to who potentially might be available for Sunday.”"

It is a positive that the manager has not completely ruled Kyogo out of the game and even having him on the bench would be a major boost for Celtic.

One thing that we have learned over the past few months about Postecoglou though is that he is very good when it comes to keeping his cards close to his chest and likes to spring a selection surprise or two from time to time. One can only hope that he has one in the form of Kyogo this Sunday.

It is not just about Kyogo though. Several other Celtic stars like Jota, Forrest, Giorgos Giakoumakis, Albian Ajeti and others are out of action as well.
