Celtic added twelve players to their ranks, ten on a permanent basis and two on loan, during the summer transfer window. But as the season has progressed, it has become clear that the Hoops need to add to Ange Postecoglou’s squad further if they are to maintain a title challenge. The gap to the top might be just four points now but we have seen the performances drop after injuries have sent several of the club’s top stars to the sidelines.

Celtic have shown the ability to grind out results this month till now and won all five of their games. But this does not feel sustainable at the moment. They were very close to dropping points against Ross County before Anthony Ralston scored a heroic winner deep into stoppage time.

But the fact that Josip Juranovic, Adam Montgomery, Ralston and Liam Scales were all in the starting XI last night just goes to show the lack of options right now.

January provides them a brilliant opportunity to add to their squad though and it looks like Celtic might make four signings next month.

Celtic could make four signings in the January transfer window

As reported by Football Scotland, Celtic are aiming to bring in three new signings from Japan in January in the form of Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi. And outwith a potential permanent move for Jota, that could be the end of their transfer business.

If they manage to pull off all four of those deals, it would represent a solid transfer window for the Hoops and strengthen them significantly.

Maeda and Hatate are players who would be expected to make a mark on the first-team immediately while Ideguchi has a lot of potential as well and could be a good fit in Postecoglou’s style of football. And there’s not a lot left to be said about Jota who has been superb since arriving on a season-long loan from Benfica in the summer.
