Celtic’s Joe Hart paid a beautiful tribute to his former Manchester City teammate, Sergio Aguero, as he announced his retirement from football today due to medical reasons. One of the best players of his generation and arguably one of the most underrated in Premier League history, the Argentine has had to hang up his boots at the age of 33.

It was only in the summer that he left Manchester City and joined FC Barcelona but unfortunately, his run at the club was not long.

Hart, who arrived at Celtic only this summer, will know Aguero very well from their time together at Manchester City. They were huge parts of the team that would change the landscape of the Premier League a decade or so ago.

The Celtic goalkeeper paid a beautiful tribute to Aguero. As reported by Sky Sports, Hart said:

"“Kun, sad news mate. But I think it goes without saying, the entire footballing world appreciates you for the player that you are and everything that you have achieved in the game, all the smiles you have put on people’s faces.“People who have been lucky enough to know you from a personal point of view, you are a great teammate and a good friend. I wish you good luck in the future.“It’s sad but also I think it’s important to look at all the amazing things you’ve done and all the smiles you have put on people’s future.“Good luck for the future, congratulations on an amazing career, and stay safe.”"

It is unfortunate that Aguero was forced to retire earlier than he would have hoped to do. But when he looks back, he can be very proud of the career that he has had. There is no doubt about the fact that he is one of the best strikers of all-time and is an absolute Premier League legend.

Having started his career at Argentine club, Independiente, it was not long before Aguero joined Atletico Madrid. It was there that he would make a name for himself on the European stage and caught the eye of Manchester City.

The Premier League club would sign him in 2011, in a move that was considered a bit of a risk at that point of time. Not for long though as Aguero would quickly prove himself. He was one of the best strikers in the game for the next decade or so and was a huge part of Manchester City as they transformed into an European giant of football.

We would like to congratulate Aguero on an incredible career and wish him the best of luck for his future.
