Celtic have been on a good run of form recently, as they have kept up the pressure on the Rangers in the Scottish Premiership title race till now. And Ange Postecoglou’s side have a big Scottish League Cup final against Hibernian coming up as well. But that does not mean that things are perfect at Parkhead, far from it. Several of the club’s first-team regulars are out injured at the moment as they head into one of the most important parts of the season.

At this point, every league game is important for Celtic but it is safe to say that they will have an eye on the final as well, which is just a week away and is a big chance for them to end their trophy drought.

The Hoops finished the previous campaign trophyless and would be hoping that they can lift the first silverware of the season next Sunday. A familiar face might be in the opposition dugout though.

As reported by the Daily Mail on Sunday [12/12 print edition, back page] (via 67 Hail Hail), Neil Lennon is a contender to become the next Hibernian manager. He is also believed to be open to discussing a return and the club might be exploring the possibility of having their new manager in charge of the League Cup final.

Lennon could be in the opposition dugout to Celtic in the League Cup final

Lennon enjoyed tremendous success at Celtic both as a player and a manager. But unfortunately, the disappointing 2020/21 campaign will always be one of the defining features of his time at Parkhead.

He has been the manager of Hibernian in the past as well and enjoyed decent success there. The club recently parted ways with Jack Ross.

It remains to be seen if Lennon does end up in the job, and before the League Cup final. If that does happen, it will make things very interesting to say the least.
