One of the biggest worries that Celtic have right now is the injury of Jota. The Portuguese winger was forced off the pitch against Hearts with a hamstring problem and it is safe to say that it could not have come at a worse time. The month of December is always one of the busiest parts of the footballing calendar and the Hoops have some big games coming up, including a League Cup final against Hibernian as well as the Glasgow Derby against the Rangers.

Thus, Jota missing those games would be a huge problem as he has been one of the standout performers in Ange Postecoglou’s side this season.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Jota has scored 8 goals and provided 7 assists in 18 appearances for Celtic.

And there appears to be some bad news for Celtic regarding the availability of the Portuguese star. As reported by Sky Sports, Postecoglou gave a potential timeline for Jota’s return from injury:

"“It’s going to be three-four weeks recovery depending how he goes so if you look at timelines it gets pretty tight for between now and the break.”"

Jota’s injury return timeline hands Celtic massive blow

This is certainly not good news for Celtic as Jota is going to miss the Scottish League Cup final against Hibernian, a big game where he could have possibly made the difference as he so often has for Celtic recently.

The Hoops passed their first test without Jota quite convincingly with a 3-0 win over Dundee United but it is safe to say that tougher tests lie ahead and the Hoops could very well miss his presence in the team over a long stretch.

With James Forrest picking up an injury recently as well, Celtic appear to be quickly running out of options on the wings.

At this point of time, one can only hope that all the injured players recover fully and return to the pitch as quickly as possible cause the Hoops certainly need them.
