Injuries have been Celtic’s Achilles heel this season. The Hoops do not have a deep squad in the first place and as a result, there are several players who have had to play a lot of constant football. Combine that with the intense pressing style that they play and it is not a big surprise that injuries have happened.

They are starting to mount up now though. When Albian Ajeti was injured on the night, it was already a huge problem for Celtic, with Giorgos Giakoumakis already out of action.

As a result, the club had only Kyogo left at striker. In that situation, with some huge games coming up, it was certainly the wrong decision on the part of Postecoglou to bring the Japanese star on.

And they paid the price for the mistake as Kyogo limped off the pitch in the second half with what looked like a hamstring injury. And thus, Celtic have been handed a huge worry.

They are already set to be without Jota for the League Cup final and now, it looks like Kyogo might not be available either.

In hindsight, Postecoglou should have never brought Kyogo on and the decision might end up having huge implications on their season. One can only hope that this does not turn out to be a serious injury.

The Bhoys are alright

Coming into the game, not many would have expected Celtic to get a win on the night against the La Liga side.

There was nothing riding on the game for them as they were headed for the Conference League after this with no chance of making it to the knockout phase of this season’s Europa League campaign.

Thus, Postecoglou ended up naming a Celtic team full of youngsters and players who had not gotten a lot of chances this season. It is safe to say that quite a few of them took their chance with both hands, as the Hoops got an unexpected 3-2 win.
