Celtic will have the chance to win the first trophy of the season when they take on Hibernian in the Scottish League Cup final at Hampden Park later this month. It is also a huge opportunity for Ange Postecoglou to win his first trophy in European football and truly announce himself in Scotland. But as luck would have it, the Hoops have been handed a massive blow heading into the big game.

At this point of time, Celtic look very much like the team in form although they still have three games to play before the final. But as we all know, form often goes out of the window when a trophy is up for grabs.

And Celtic will not one have one of their best players available when they face Hibernian at Hampden Park.

Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Jota will not be available for the game. As reported by Sky Sports, the Celtic manager said:

"“He won’t be right for the cup final.”"

Celtic will be without Jota in the Scottish League Cup final

Jota has been a standout performer for Celtic ever since joining the club in the summer on a season-long loan from Benfica.

The Portuguese youngster had failed to make his mark at Benfica despite being very highly-rated while coming through the youth ranks and as a result, there were a lot of questions about whether he could get it done at Parkhead.

It is safe to say that he has already answered those questions and then some, proving to be one of the best players in Scotland this season till now.

As a result, his recent injury is a massive worry for Celtic. Jota was forced off the pitch in their recent game against Hearts and is expected to be out of action for a while. Unfortunately, that will see him miss one of the biggest games of the season, in what is a huge blow for the club.
