Celtic pass first test without Jota

When Jota arrived at Celtic in the summer on a season-long loan from Benfica, there were a lot of doubts surrounding the Portuguese winger about whether he could get it done at Parkhead. It is safe to say that there are very few doubts now.

Jota has been absolutely superb over the past few months and established himself as a huge part of Ange Postecoglou’s side. In fact, over the past several weeks, he has arguably been the club’s standout player and was in the middle of an incredible run of form.

Thus, it is safe to say that the injury he picked up against Hearts in midweek was a huge blow for Celtic. And they will be hoping that they can have Jota back on the pitch as soon as possible.

They did quite well against Dundee United even without the Portuguese star though and that is cause for some hope, with the games coming thick and fast in the month of December.

It remains to be seen when Jota does eventually return but one can only hope that it is before the Scottish League Cup final against Hibernian later this month.

Tom Rogic rises to the occasion

A little over a year ago, it had looked like Tom Rogic’s Celtic career was over and he was headed out the exit door.

Football is a funny game though and can change very quickly. Rogic is a great example of that.

Since Postecoglou’s arrival as the Celtic manager, he has become one of the most vital members of the first-team once again and is putting in some terrific performances. He scored a great opener against Dundee United on this occasion.

Rogic is playing some of his best football in a Celtic shirt right now and as a result, his return from injury has been a huge boost for the Hoops.
