Celtic make transfer offer to another Japanese star
While the January transfer window is still almost a month away, things appear to be picking up pace at Celtic already. The club have always been expected to have a big one this time around, considering the lack of depth in several positions in the squad, and one place that they appear to be looking towards is Japan. The 2021 J1 League campaign came to an end very recently, meaning this is a great time to get deals done.
Celtic have already been linked with moves for Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate. And now, it looks like another name has been added to the list of Japanese players that Ange Postecoglou’s side are interested in.
That name is Yosuke Ideguchi. He is a 25-year-old central midfielder who currently plays for Gamba Osaka and has represented the Japan national team several times till now.
As reported by Hochi (via Daily Record), Celtic are keen to bring Ideguchi to Glasgow in January. And it looks like the Hoops have made an offer to the Gamba Osaka midfielder.
Celtic have reportedly made offer to Ideguchi
Ideguchi already has quite a bit of experience in Europe. He was at Leeds United in the past but never managed to make an appearance for them. He has also played for clubs in Spain and Germany.
His spell in Europe was not very fruitful though and he has since gone back to the J1 League and established himself once again at Gamba Osaka. Could another move to Europe lie in his future though, this time with Celtic?
Ideguchi is a player who showed tremendous potential early on but then had a couple of tough years as well. He has slowly gotten back into the groove of things though after returning to Japan. If a move to Celtic does happen, it could be a big chance for him to show that he can get it done in Europe.
