Celtic manager makes unexpected Tom Rogic admission

Tom Rogic’s return against Hearts was a massive boost for Celtic, especially with the series of injuries that the Hoops suffered in the match. Ange Postecoglou has been handed massive worries as Jota, Anthony Ralston and Stephen Welsh were all forced off the pitch. Thus, while the Hoops did get a 1-0 win in an important match, the victory did not taste as sweet as it normally would have.

Rogic himself had been out of action for over a month, having been injured in late October against Hibernian.

It is safe to say that he is a major part of this team right now and was playing some of his best football in a Celtic shirt before he got injured. And he slotted straight back into the starting XI against Hearts, playing the entire game.

Postecoglou has admitted though that it was not in the plans for Rogic to play the 90 minutes but the other injuries meant that they had no other choice. As reported by The Scotsman, the Celtic manager revealed:

"“Tommy was never meant to play 90 but with the injuries we had to make a call for him to keep playing.”"

Rogic is a huge part of Celtic’s first-team picture right now

Not too long ago, it had looked like Rogic was on his way out of Celtic after getting lost in the first-team shuffle. He ended up staying though and is now very much back in the mix of things.

It was great to see Rogic back on the pitch. It might be even more important now though for him to remain fit moving forward.

Celtic did not have a lot of squad depth to begin with. Now, with the series of injuries that they have suffered combined with the tough fixture list in December and it is safe to say that they cannot afford any more injuries moving forward. Of course, that is easier said than done considering the amount of football that some of the players have been playing recently.
