Tottenham Hotspur appears to be becoming one of the go to clubs for Celtic when it comes to signing players. They already signed Joe Hart in the summer and that has proven to be a bit of a masterstroke as he has already established himself as a first-team regular and a leader at Parkhead. On the other hand, Cameron Carter-Vickers is on a season-long loan with an option to buy. And the Hoops might have their eyes on another player from the Premier League club.
Wings have been an area of worry for Celtic in recent times, with Mikey Johnston and James Forrest only recently returning from long-term injuries, while Karamoko Dembele is still out of action.
Thus, they could do with another option on the wings in the near future and as reported by Evening Standard, Celtic and the Rangers are both battling it out in the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Dilan Markanday. Several Championship clubs like West Brom, QPR and Bournemouth are also believed to be interested in him.
Markanday’s current deal at Tottenham Hotspur is believed to run out next summer and the club want him to sign a new deal.
Celtic linked with exciting Tottenham Hotspur winger
Markanday recently made his debut for the Tottenham Hotspur senior side and has been an absolute standout for them at the youth level.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 11 goals and provided 6 assists in 15 appearances for Tottenham Hotspurs’ Under-23 team this season.
Thus, it is not hard to see why there is so much interest around the 20-year-old winger’s signature. It is safe to say that if Celtic were able to sign him, it would be considered a great move on their part but with the heavy competition for his signature, as well as the possibility that he could decide to remain at Tottenham Hotspur, it might be a tough race to win for the Hoops.
