Christopher Jullien is regarded by many as the best defender in Celtic’s squad right now. But unfortunately, the Frenchman has not even made a single appearance for the club in 2021 till now, after picking up an injury late last year. It was initially expected to keep him out of action for around four months but it is safe to say that it has been much longer than that by now and worries will only grow as a result.

Even before that injury, Jullien had had fitness problems and had spent significant time on the sidelines in the early part of the 2020/21 campaign.

Several times, rumours have suggested that Jullien is closing in on a return to the pitch but it has not happened till now. Even recently, it was believed that he could be back by the end of November. That has come and gone but we are yet to see the Frenchman in action.

And Postecoglou’s recent comments about Jullien’s return to the pitch will worry Celtic fans. While speaking on Celtic’s official YouTube channel in a media conference, when asked whether there was any update on the defender’s situation, the manager said:

"“Nah mate, nothing really.”"

And when asked if there was a timeframe for a return, he said:

"“Nah, not really. He’s working through things, and once he gets close I’ll let you know.”"

Postecoglou’s comments about Jullien return will worry Celtic fans

This is not the first time that it has looked like Jullien might be closing in on a return, for it only to be pushed back.

Now, while he is considered as the fourth option at centre-back for Celtic, in reality, the Hoops only have three available at the moment, with Nir Bitton and Dane Murray capable of coming in if the situation called for it.

Thus, it is safe to say that the situation is far from ideal. One can only hope that Jullien is able to put his injury problems behind him as soon as possible and get back on the pitch.
