The January transfer window is not far away and it is safe to say that Celtic are expected to have an exciting one this time around. Ange Postecoglou’s side have shown tremendous promise in recent months and look like they might be ready to put up a title challenge. But, there is no hiding from the fact that the squad depth at Parkhead is very thin right now and a few injuries could turn out to be a major blow to their campaign.

Thus, it should not come as any surprise that the Hoops are expected to add to their squad in January and they have been linked with a wide variety of players from all over the world.

One interesting name that has cropped up almost unexpectedly is that of Shamrock Rovers’ Danny Mandroiu. The attacking midfielder has enjoyed a standout season though and rumours have suggested that Celtic have had their eyes on him for a while.

But as reported by the Daily Record, Irish sources believe that deal is unlikely to happen in January.

Celtic might have cooled their interest in Mandroiu

Mandroiu has enjoyed quite a season with Shamrock Rovers this time around. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 15 goals and provided 6 assists in 35 Premier Division appearances.

And at 23 years of age, he is expected to get even better moving forward. Thus, he is without doubt one of the most highly-rated talents in the League of Ireland at this moment of time.

But there have been a lot of doubts amongst the Celtic fans when it comes to signing the attacking midfielder. The club have already signed one player from Shamrock Rovers this season in the form of Liam Scales and things have not turned out as expected for the versatile defender. Thus, it is not hard to understand why there might not be a lot of excitement regarding a potential move for Mandroiu.
