In Ange Postecoglou, Celtic appear to have found a long-term manager. When he arrived in the summer, a lot of fans questioned whether he could get it done at Parkhead, as he had very little experience of managing in Europe despite enjoying tremendous success in both Japan and Australia. A few months on and things have changed completely.

Postecoglou is already a fan favourite and a lot of people consider him as the manager who will guide Celtic back to the top of Scottish football.

And while it remains to be seen what happens in that regard, he is expected to remain at Parkhead for a while now unless things take an unexpected turn.

Most probably, the manager is in the very early stages of his stint at Parkhead. But it appears that the Hoops already have potential plans for the next manager as well. As reported by The Athletic (via 67 Hail Hail), the Celtic board still consider John Kennedy to be a managerial candidate down the line in the post-Ange Postecoglou era.

Celtic already appear to have big future plans for Kennedy

Many felt that Celtic were looking to give Kennedy the managerial role when Neil Lennon departed the club. Of course, nobody could have foreseen how the Northern Irishman’s run as Celtic manager would come to an end.

While Kennedy did have an extensive run as the caretaker manager of the club last season, it was necessary to bring in a new manager in the summer, especially after the 2020/21 campaign that the Hoops had.

As a result, many might have felt that Kennedy’s chance to be the Celtic manager in the future had gone but that does not appear to be the case at all, as it looks like the club still have big plans for him in the future.
