He might have only arrived in Scotland just a few months back but Jota might already be the best player in Scotland on current form. The Portuguese winger has been nothing short of sensational and it makes you wonder why things did not work out for him at either Benfica or Real Valladolid before this.

It might be a bit hard to believe judging by some of his recent performances, but this is the first time in his career that Jota is playing regular first-team football for a club at the senior level and it is safe to say that he has taken the opportunity with both his hands.

As reported by Transfermarkt, Jota has scored 8 goals and provided 7 assists in 17 appearances for Celtic.

Now, the big task for Celtic would be to sign him on a permanent basis from Benfica. The Hoops are believed to have an option to buy around £6.5 million included in the loan deal, but it might ultimately come down to what Jota wants to do.

Celtic are building a winning mentality

This is the kind of game that Celtic might not have been able to win last season. And there have been several such instances in recent months of similar games, where the Hoops have had to go on and turn a draw into a win. And they have managed to do it more often than not.

Sometimes, that might be the most important thing that a team with title aspirations needs and it does feel like Ange Postecoglou’s side are slowly but surely building that.

Now, it remains to be seen if they can do it consistently throughout the course of the season. The Hoops have shown brilliant signs of improvement over the past few months and if they can continue to do that, we are in for a tight title race.
