The game between Celtic and Bayer Leverkusen promises to be a good one. The first one was an open game to say the least, and while the German side might have walked out of Parkhead with a 4-0 win, Ange Postecoglou’s side had their fair share of chances as well. And the Hoops would be hoping that the game away in Germany will be much closer, as it could have major implications on their Europa League group.

If Celtic lose to Bayer Leverkusen and Real Betis beat Ferencvaros, then Postecoglou’s side will have no chance of making it past the group stage of the Europa League. Fortunately for them, even if that scenario unfolds, they will have Europa Conference League football to look forward to.

But for now, the focus must be on getting a result against Bayer Leverkusen. Of course, that is going to be very tough, considering they are one of the best teams in the Bundesliga and the match will be in Germany as well.

Bayer Leverkusen manager, Gerardo Seoane, has admitted though that the difference between the two sides was not as big as the 4-0 scoreline from the reverse fixture would suggest. As reported by the Daily Record, he said:

"“In Glasgow we deserved to win but it wasn’t really a four goal difference between the two teams.“I think we were very determined in our finishing and took our chances. Celtic produced good moves but didn’t score.”"

Celtic could need a result when they face Bayer Leverkusen

While it is not a given that Celtic need a result in this game, it is very much a possibility. And that is the mindset that they will need to have going into the game.

The Hoops have been in great form in recent times though. They have won eight of their previous nine games, while drawing the other one.

On the other hand, it has not been smooth sailing for Bayer Leverkusen, who have had a series of injury worries and as a result, their form is not as strong as it was earlier in the season.
