Celtic are heading into probably their most important European game of the season till now, as they will face Bayer Leverkusen away in Germany. And Ange Postecoglou’s side know that if they lose at the hands of the Bundesliga giants and Real Betis beat Ferencvaros in the other game in the group, then their chances of making it to the knockout phase of the Europa League are over.

Fortunately for Celtic, even if that happens, they will play in the Europa Conference League. But for the moment, that thought should be completely out of their minds and they should be completely focused on getting a result against Bayer Leverkusen.

Of course, that is easier said than done. Bayer Leverkusen are one of the best teams in the Bundesliga right now and won the reverse fixture 4-0 at Parkhead.

Thus, it is safe to say that Celtic have a mountain to climb if they are to get a result against Bayer Leverkusen away in Germany. But their own good run of form combined with the Bundesliga side’s recent struggles with injuries does make things a bit more interesting.

Here’s how we think Ange Postecoglou could line Celtic up when they play Bayer Leverkusen in a big Europa League group stage game away in Germany:

Goalkeeper:

Joe Hart

There is very little doubt about who the goalkeeper for Celtic will be when they meet Bayer Leverkusen.

Joe Hart might have arrived in the summer with a lot of questions surrounding him, but he has already established himself in Postecoglou’s team as the first-choice goalkeeper as well as a vocal leader in this side, which they needed following Scott Brown’s departure in the summer.

He conceded 4 goals against the German side last time. Hopefully, he will have a better European night this time around.
