Celtic are expected to make more additions to their squad over the coming transfer windows despite the team’s impressive performances in recent times. It is safe to say that while Ange Postecoglou’s side are doing very well now, they do not have a lot of depth in their squad. And a few injuries could see them land in trouble, as we have already seen earlier in the season when Kyogo and Callum McGregor spent time on the sidelines.

Thus, Postecoglou could do with more options in several positions across the pitch. One of them is certainly centre-back.

Carl Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers have done quite well in recent times, while Stephen Welsh is a decent option to have as well. And Christopher Jullien is expected to return some time soon.

But one must remember that Jullien has been out of action for a long time and has not kicked a ball for nearly a year. Thus, the big question is, how will he perform when he does return to the pitch?

Celtic join transfer race for impressive Premiership star

It looks like Celtic have another centre-back in their sights, who has been impressive both in the Premiership as well as the Scotland national team in recent times.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Celtic have joined the Rangers in tracking John Souttar. The Hearts star’s current deal runs out next summer. And as many as nine English Championship clubs are also believed to have an interest in his signature.

Souttar has had his fair share of injuries through the course of his career despite being just 25 years of age. Recently though, he has looked very impressive and has managed to catch the eye of several clubs around England as well as the Glasgow giants. It remains to be seen what the future holds for him as Hearts are naturally believed to be interested in extending his deal as well.
