Connor Goldson confession is brilliant news for Celtic

Celtic find themselves in a very good spot right now. They have won eight of their previous nine games across all competitions and recently beat St Johnstone 1-0, through a goal from James Forrest, to book their place in the Scottish League Cup final. Ange Postecoglou’s side will face Hibernian at Hampden Park next month with the first trophy of the season up for grabs.

Thus, it is safe to say that things are looking up for Celtic, who are also expected to strengthen further in January and look like a team that can make a run for the Premiership title this season, after a terrible 2020/21 campaign.

On the other hand, it does look like the Rangers have their fair share of problems right now. They have not looked great in the league recently although they do have a lead at the top. And their bad run in cup competitions continued as they were knocked out of the League Cup by Hibernian in the semis.

Connor Goldson’s recent comments are interesting to say the least and will be music to the ears of Celtic fans. As reported by The Scottish Sun, the Rangers star told Premier Sports:

"“We know the new manager was there today and you would hope the players would want to impress him.“But after that performance we need a change. We need a spark.“I don’t want to say this but I feel like we’ve lost a bit of hunger.“All of a sudden we’re champions and don’t need to work as hard – that’s wrong.”"

Celtic have a big opportunity right now with the Rangers struggling

Goldson’s comments should provide Celtic with a massive boost and one has to feel that Postecoglou’s side have a great opportunity to cut down the gap in the points table over the coming weeks and months. Also, are doubts starting to creep in at Ibrox?

It is not just bad form that the Rangers are dealing with now. Steven Gerrard departed the club in the middle of the campaign to become the Aston Villa manager and now, Giovanni van Bronckhorst finds himself in the Ibrox hot seat.

Let’s see what the coming games hold for Postecoglou’s side but it is safe to say that it is an exciting time to be a Celtic fan once again.
