There’s a lot of positivity around Celtic at the moment and for good reason. Ange Postecoglou’s side have won eight out of their previous nine games across all competitions. They also beat St Johnstone 1-0 to book their place in the Scottish League Cup final through a goal from James Forrest. And at the moment, they very much look like the in-form team in Scotland.

Thus, there is a lot to be happy about if you are a Celtic fan, and after quite some time. But that does not mean that the Hoops do not have their fair share of problems as well. They definitely do. And one of them is up top at striker.

There is no questioning the fact that Kyogo has been absolutely brilliant ever since coming in the summer from Vissel Kobe. But beyond him, there does not appear to be an in-form striker at the club.

Albian Ajeti is being linked with a move away after failing to make his mark at Parkhead since arriving from West Ham United in the summer of 2020. But things are looking rough for Giorgos Giakoumakis as well.

Celtic have a massive Giakoumakis problem

Giakoumakis did not have a great start to life at Celtic and appeared to be struggling to reach fitness. But fans were ready to give him some time to find his feet.

After all, he was the Eredivisie top scorer last season and there were a lot of expectations that he would eventually start finding the back of the net. We are set to enter December soon though and things don’t seem to have changed much.

He has made a couple of decent appearances and even scored a goal, but he still is having injury problems and has not found his form. He definitely does not look like a player that Postecoglou could rely on at the moment, if Kyogo was to spend time on the sidelines.

Thus, the Hoops should definitely consider signing another goalscorer in January. And Daizen Maeda is a name that comes to mind immediately in that regard.
