Ange Postecoglou makes brilliant Celtic claim after reaching final
When Ange Postecoglou arrived as Celtic manager after the club’s unsuccessful attempt to appoint Eddie Howe, it is safe to say that most fans were not excited by the decision. Despite his unquestioned success in both Japan and Australia, the 56-year-old did not have much experience in Europe and many questioned whether he could get it done at Parkhead.
A few months on and Celtic fans just can’t get enough of Postecoglou. The manager has already won over the support and now, he is seen by many as the man to take the club back to the top of Scottish football.
While that might be a long road, it does look like the club are certainly on the right path. They defeated St Johnstone to book their place in the Scottish League Cup final.
After a season that saw them finish 25 points behind the Rangers and without winning a single trophy or even making a final, this should come as a huge boost for the Hoops.
Postecoglou makes brilliant claim after Celtic book their place in the League Cup final
Speaking after the game to Premier Sports, Postecoglou said:
"“The players are starting to get some real belief in the football we wanna play, and with every victory we have that accelerates that a little bit.”"
One of the biggest questions around Postecoglou is how this side will adjust to his style of football. The manager has never made it a secret that he wants his teams to play a certain style of football and he will stick to his philosophy.
Admittedly, there have been some growing pains throughout the course of the season, which have not been helped by the fact that Celtic do not have much squad depth at the moment.
Slowly but surely though, it feels like things are starting to fall into place for Postecoglou’s side. And while they might not be at their flowing best at the moment, they are getting the results that they are looking for. Now, the next step will be being more clinical and winning games by a bigger margin.
