This January promises to be one of the most exciting in Celtic’s recent history. Ange Postecoglou has done a tremendous job with the cards that he has been dealt but there is no questioning that this squad does not have a lot of depth at the moment and the manager could do with more options in several positions. Thus, one would expect the Hoops to make more additions when the transfer window reopens.

Most of the recent rumours have surrounded J1 League players and it is not hard to see why, considering the Postecoglou connection as well as the tremendous success that Kyogo has been since arriving in the summer.

The likes of Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate are very exciting players to consider. But there is one player, closer to home in the English Championship, who Celtic must have their eye on as well.

That man is Jed Wallace, who has enjoyed a tremendous start to the season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, the winger has scored 5 goals and provided 5 assists in 16 Championship appearances this season. And most interestingly, his contract is set to run out next summer.

Celtic must make a move for Wallace in January

When it comes to Wallace, there are two options that Celtic have. On one hand, they could decide to try their luck and see if they can sign him for a small transfer fee, with his current deal running out soon. Or on the other hand, they could try to sign him on a pre-contract.

Whatever maybe the case, he could prove to be a solid signing for Postecoglou’s side. Celtic could definitely do with more options on the wings for sure, with the recent injury history of the likes of James Forrest and Mikey Johnston.

At 27 years of age, Wallace is entering his prime as a footballer. Of course, all this depends on if he does not end up extending his deal with Millwall.
