St Johnstone suffer another blow before semi-final vs Celtic
The upcoming Scottish League Cup semi-final between St Johnstone and Celtic promises to be a very interesting affair. The Saints will be entering the game as the defending champions against the Hoops, which has certainly been a rare sight in recent years. And while Callum Davidson’s side must be confident, having won a historic Cup double last season, it appears that they have been handed another major blow.
Celtic are pretty much the side in form at the moment, having won seven of their last eight games across all competitions. This includes a recent win against St Johnstone.
And St Johnstone have a few injury worries heading into the game as well. It was just recently that it emerged that Stevie May was set to be out of action for a while. Now, they are set to miss another player in the final third in the form of Glenn Middleton.
As reported by The Courier, Middleton limped off the pitch during a Scotland u21 game and it looks like he might have suffered a hamstring strain. As a result, he is going to be a major doubt for the League Cup semi-final against Celtic.

Ange Postecoglou will definitely know the importance of this game. It provides him the opportunity to guide Celtic to their first final under his management.
A win would be another huge boost for a side that has picked up some serious momentum in recent times. But a defeat, in a Cup semi-final, could definitely turn out to be a major blow. It could even possibly derail the momentum that the team has built up over the past several weeks.
It remains to be seen what the result turns out to be, but one thing that is sure is the fact that this promises to be a very interesting game.
