Celtic are expected to strengthen their squad further when the transfer window reopens. And as a result, this January promises to be one of the most exciting in the club’s recent history. Ange Postecoglou’s side have done very well in recent weeks and look like the team in form in Scotland right now. But they do need to make additions in multiple positions all over the pitch.

One of the areas that they need to strengthen in is midfield. The club did not replace Ryan Christie in the summer. In defensive midfield, they do have the likes of James McCarthy, Nir Bitton and Ismaila Soro in their ranks. But none of them have been able to quite impress in recent times.

Thus, Postecoglou could certainly do with another option in the middle of the park in order to give his midfield more flexibility. And one player that they have been linked with recently is Gremio’s Fernando Henrique.

The Brazilian youngster is very highly-rated and is rumoured to be on his way out of Gremio soon, after finding game time hard to come by in recent months. And it appears that he might have dropped a big hint on social media.

Henrique starts following Celtic on Instagram

As reported by Football Scotland, Henrique followed Celtic FC’s official account on Instagram. The move will only lead to speculation growing regarding the possibility of a transfer to Parkhead in January.

Henrique could certainly turn out to be a solid addition to this Celtic side. Capable of playing as a central midfielder as well as a defensive midfielder, the Brazilian possesses a decent defensive side to his game while his passing range is solid as well, as he has the ability to unlock a defence from deep in midfield.

It remains to be seen if Celtic do end up making a move for him, but the recent events are certainly interesting to say the least.
