Aaron Mooy is a name that Celtic fans will be very familiar with. He was linked with a move to Parkhead in the summer, but it never materialised. An Australian international who has thrived under the management of Ange Postecoglou in the past, it is not hard to see why the Hoops are rumoured to be interested in the player.

The links had appeared to be pretty strong at one point in the summer but ultimately, it led to nothing.

Mooy enjoyed a solid time in the Premier League recently but has since then moved to Shanghai Port FC. The rumours linking him with Celtic are refusing to completely go away though.

For months, there had not been many rumours linking Mooy with a move to Parkhead. But as reported by the Daily Mail, the Australian is said to Postecoglou’s number one target for Celtic during the upcoming transfer window.

Mooy appears to be Postecoglou’s number one target for Celtic in January

To be honest, the update is pretty surprising considering the fact that Celtic had not been linked with a move for Mooy much at all over the last few months.

While 31 years of age, Mooy could still prove to be a solid addition to this Celtic team. He was Manchester City at one point of time but could not make his mark there. He did go on to enjoy a solid time in the Premier League though while playing for the likes of Huddersfield Town and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Interestingly, Mooy already has experience of playing in Scotland under his belt as well, having represented St Mirren towards the start of his career.

Now, it remains to be seen if Celtic do end up making a move for the Shanghai Port FC star, who has already played quite a bit of football under Postecoglou in the past. The Hoops could certainly do with another option in the middle of the park.
