Scales arrived at Celtic in the summer with a lot of expectations around him and for good reason. He was a standout for Shamrock Rovers and was rated as one of the biggest talents in the League of Ireland.

He had been known for his consistent performances and versatility with Shamrock Rovers and some even believed that Scales was ready to immediately slot into Celtic’s starting XI.

It is safe to say that that has not happened till now and does not feel like it will happen in the near future. In fact, Scales is yet to make his first start for the club.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made just 3 appearances for the club, which have combined for 44 minutes of football.

At 23 years of age, he needs to be playing much more regular football for his development and if he cannot get that at Parkhead then a loan move away from Celtic in January is an option that the Hoops must consider.

Dane Murray

It is safe to say that not many fans would have expected Dane Murray to play a lot of football at the start of this campaign. But a couple of performances that the 18-year-old put in early on in the season certainly raised everyone’s expectations.

Murray was absolutely superb both times he featured against FC Midtjylland in the Champions League qualifiers early on in the campaign and played well beyond his years under tough circumstances.

A lot of people were impressed with the youngster and felt that he could play a solid role in the Celtic first-team this season. But unfortunately, that has not been the case. In fact, it has been the quite opposite and Murray has not even made a single appearance for the Hoops since then.

And while nobody expects Murray to be a first-team regular at this stage of his career, he should at least be coming off the bench in some games in order to get some experience under his belt.
