Celtic will need to make a few changes to their squad over the course of the upcoming January transfer window. While it is clear that the team need to make additions, there are also a few players who are not making an impact at the moment and thus, them leaving, either on loan or on a permanent basis, is something that must be considered.

Now, there are players who have simply not settled in since arriving but have a lot of potential. For them, a loan spell would be ideal, especially if they can be sent to a Scottish Premiership club.

On the other hand, there are some others who have already gotten their fair share of chances and it might be time to find a new club for them as it does not look like it is working out at Celtic.

Whatever may be the case, it does feel like this January could be an exciting time for Celtic fans.

When Vasilis Barkas arrived at Celtic last season from AEK Athens for a transfer fee believed to be around £4.5 million, there were a lot of expectations that he would go on to become the club’s long-term goalkeeper.

It is safe to say that he has failed to meet those expectations till now. He did make a decent start to life at Parkhead but soon appeared to lose his confidence, and has not been a regular in the starting XI since then.

There were some hopes that he could find his feet at Parkhead this season but after a few mistakes early on in the season, Joe Hart was signed and the Englishman has become the regular between the posts for Celtic. Thus, a move away from the club in January, either on loan or on a permanent basis, could be good for Barkas.
