Celtic underwent a lot of change in the summer transfer window, with the arrival of a new manager in Ange Postecoglou, twelve new players and several big departures. And it looks like the changes will continue to take place in the upcoming January transfer window as well, with one big signing looking set to depart Parkhead in the middle of the campaign.

It is safe to say that Postecoglou has done a brilliant job till now with the cards that he was dealt. But it is clear that there are several changes needed to this Celtic squad and things are not ideal at the moment.

The likes of Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and others are being linked with moves to Parkhead. On the other hand, we have already seen Albian Ajeti being linked with a move away. And now, it looks like another big signing from last season could be headed out the exit door.

Vasilis Barkas arrived at Celtic in the summer of 2020 from AEK Athens, for a transfer fee believed to be around £4.5 million. But he has failed to make his mark at the club. And as tweeted out by Giannis Chorianopoulos, the goalkeeper is about to leave the club in January, either on loan or on a permanent basis:

Barkas looks set for Celtic exit in January

When Celtic failed to bring back Fraser Forster, they signed Barkas from AEK Athens. The Greek goalkeeper had enjoyed a great stint there and arrived at Parkhead with a lot of expectations, as many felt he could be the long-term answer between the posts for Celtic.

It is safe to say that things have not worked out for Barkas. While easy to forget, he did make a decent start to life at Parkhead but it felt like his confidence faded away after a few mistakes.

Since the arrival of Joe Hart in the summer, Barkas has been out of the first-team picture completely and thus a move away might be the right step for him as well as the club.
