Yuto Nagatomo has been left very impressed by the Celtic transfer target. And the former Inter Milan, Galatasaray and Marseille star also called him one of the best in the world in one aspect of his game, and his comments will certainly excite the fans about a potential Parkhead move in January.

The player in question here is Daizen Maeda. The Japanese star has been in sensational form this season and is currently leading the J1 League scoring charts. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 21 goals in 33 J1 League appearances this season.

The links with Celtic are not surprising, not only because of his tremendous form but also because of the fact that Maeda has already played under the management of Ange Postecoglou, during their time together at Yokohama F. Marinos.

Maeda recently scored a hattrick against FC Tokyo. And Nagatomo, who currently plays for the club was clearly very impressed by his opponent’s performance. Maeda recorded 55 sprints against FC Tokyo. And as reported by Gekisaka, Nagatomo said regarding that aspect:

"“I think it’s one of the best in the world.”"

Maeda could prove to be a brilliant signing for Celtic

At this point of time, Maeda is playing some of the best football of his career and is one of the best players in the J1 League right now. Also, he is still just 24 years of age and would be expected to get better moving forward.

Many also believe that he is the perfect type of player for the style of football that Postecoglou’s sides play. In fact, it was the manager who had brought him to Yokohama F. Marinos. On top of everything else, he already has experience of playing in Europe.

Thus, it goes without saying that Maeda could prove to be a brilliant signing for Celtic. And although a deal is not over the line yet, recent rumours have suggested that Celtic are confident of their chances of getting it done.
