Celtic set sights on January move for €10 million striker

Celtic already appear to have a brilliant option up front right now in the form of Kyogo Furuhashi, who has been sensational since coming in and might very well be the most important player in Ange Postecoglou’s team right now. But, it looks like the Hoops might have their eyes on a €10 million-rated striker as well, with a long history with the club.

The player in question is Jordan Larsson, the son of Celtic legend Henrik Larsson. He currently plays for Spartak Moscow, with whom he enjoyed a tremendous 2020/21 campaign. He has appeared to struggle this season though.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Larsson scored 15 goals and provided 5 assists in 29 Russian Premier Liga appearances for Spartak Moscow last season. This season though, he has not scored a single goal in 12 league appearances.

As a result, it is believed that Spartak Moscow are ready to let him leave in January. And as reported by Mundo Deportivo, Celtic have set their sights on Larsson along with Borussia Dortmund and West Ham United. In the summer, it is believed that the Russian club turned down a €10 million offer from Wolfsburg for the striker, but would accept a similar offer now.

Could Celtic actually make a move for Larsson?

It is not hard to see why Celtic would be linked with a move for Larsson. In fact, it would be surprising if they were not.

But at this point of time, it does feel unlikely that they would make a move for the striker, especially considering the fact that they already have Kyogo in their squad and are being linked with a January move for Daizen Maeda as well.

Of course, never say never in football and anything can happen in the future, but unless the transfer fee required to sign Larsson is much lower than €10 million, it is hard to imagine Celtic making a move.
